BLOCK THE BOAT #BDS

END ISRAELI APARTHEID

***FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Sunday, June 27, 2021***

Mandla Mandela, Grandson of Nelson Mandela,

Endorses #BlocktheBoat Campaign

MEDIA STATEMENT

By Nkosi ZMD Mandela, MP

We support the Block The Boat Campaign.

Sunday, 27th June 2021: The Boycott, Sanctions and Divestment movement constitutes the most powerful weapon in our hands to end the occupation of Palestinian lands by the Apartheid Israel regime. Last month our dockworker heroes in Durban harbour refused to offload cargo from a ship carrying goods from Apartheid Israel.

We call on Transnet management, to deny docking rights to the Israeli owned ZIM shipping line. We also call on our gallant labour unions especially the dockworker unions to refuse to handle any goods emanating from Apartheid Israel especially the illegal settlements.

We call on all our fellow South Africans to respond to the calls from Palestinian union in Gaza as well as USA activists involved in similar actions in Oakland, California.

We must continue to build a strong global human solidarity network that forms the basis of our efforts to intensify the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign.

The ZIM Shangai shipping line is expected in Durban on the 10th July and we must be vigilant for shifting dates as a means to foil our attempts.

We call on all organs of civil society, our ANC Alliance partner SANCO, the ANC Women’s League and Youth, EFF, NFP, UDM, Good, and Al Jama-ah along with the Interfaith Movement, CBOs and NGOs to support this campaign and join us to intensify the Boycott Divestment and Sanctions campaign.

The Royal House of Mandela stands for an end to the unjust occupation, the release of all Palestinian political prisoner and the Right of Return of all Palestinians in the Diaspora.

Ppl will give you a 1,000 reasons why, but the main driver behind the backlash has been anti-Muslim bias.
